SaltShack respects your privacy and collects only the information necessary to provide certain app features.
SaltShack uses Google Firebase services to provide optional player profile and leaderboard functionality. An anonymous guest player identifier may be created automatically so that scores and profile information can be associated with the same player.
The app may store a generated or user-selected username, avatar selection, total points, game scores, streaks, and other leaderboard-related progress on Firebase servers.
Usernames, avatars, scores, and rankings may be visible to other users through the app's leaderboards. User-selected usernames are subject to an automated profanity and abuse filter.
This information is used only to provide app functionality such as player profiles, score syncing, leaderboards, abuse prevention, and moderation. It is not used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or marketing.
Users can report an inappropriate public username from within the app. A report may include the reporting player's anonymous Firebase user identifier, the reported player's anonymous Firebase user identifier, the reported username, and the time the report was submitted. Reports are used only for moderation, abuse prevention, and protecting the service.
When a username is reported, the app may also block that player's identifying profile information on the reporting user's device. The blocked player's rank and score may remain visible so leaderboard positions stay accurate. The block preference is stored locally on that device and can be removed from the Blocked Players screen.
Quiz progress, preferences, bookmarks, collection entries, user-added mineral notes, and user-selected photos are stored locally on the user's device.
Photos and text added to My Collection remain on the user's device and are not transmitted to external servers by SaltShack.
No account registration, email address, phone number, or password is required to use SaltShack. Leaderboard functionality uses an automatically generated anonymous guest player profile rather than a conventional sign-in account.
Cloud-hosted player profile and leaderboard information is retained while the anonymous player profile remains active. Users can delete their player profile from the Profile screen in the app. Deleting the player profile removes the associated Firebase player record, username reservation, and anonymous Firebase Authentication account.
Deleting a player profile does not delete local collection photos, mineral notes, bookmarks, or other information that remains only on the user's device. A user may create a new anonymous player profile later if they choose to use leaderboard features again.
Moderation reports may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, enforce moderation rules, protect the service, or meet applicable legal obligations.
SaltShack uses Google Firebase for anonymous authentication and cloud-hosted leaderboard functionality. Data transmitted to Firebase is used to provide these app features and is handled in accordance with Google's applicable Firebase privacy and security terms.
You can delete your anonymous player profile and its associated cloud leaderboard data at any time from the Profile screen. You can continue to use the app's local reference and collection features without a cloud player profile.
